Project Fi Travel Trolley Trivia Game

I worked with one other designer on the Project Fi travel trolley trivia game. The trolley gives travelers at select airports a chance to win Project Fi branded prizes such as socks, playing cards, luggage tags, and more.

My Role:  I was responsible for doing research, research analysis and synthesization, ideation, and creating mocks for the game portion of the experience.

Task:  My coworker and I were asked to design the entire touchscreen UI and experience for the travel trolley trivia game.

The Problem

In late 2016, Project Fi rolled out its very first travel trolley to select airports around the country. These trolleys dispensed awesome gifts for travelers who happened to be Project Fi subscribers. Although the first travel trolleys were a big hit, it left non-subscribing travelers empty handed. So with the 2nd iteration, we sought to find a way to include non-subscribers in on the fun.

The Solution

We wanted to include non-subscribers in on the travel goodies, but also wanted to introduce them to Project Fi at the same time. By letting them play a trivia game (geography themed because, well, they're traveling!), we hoped to boost brand recognition while also keeping our subscribers happy.

Research

My research consisted of competitive and comparative analysis. I looked at Trivia Crack (a mobile trivia game), Buzz! (a trivia based game on the Playstation), and also trivia games on the website Sporcle.com
